In Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., a National Institutes of Health funded clinical trial, known as INTEGRA, is evaluating the efficacy of delivering integrated HIV and substance use disorder care via mobile clinics. With a focus on providing services for people who inject drugs, the mobile clinics offer HIV testing, prevention (through PrEP), and treatment (through antiretroviral therapy) in addition to providing medication for opioid use disorder (buprenorphine) and overdose reversal (naloxone or Narcan), syringe services, testing for hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections, and primary care services.
