Topic
Harm Reduction
This publication describes the recent trends of drug overdose deaths in the United States (U.S.) and the benefits of adopting harm reduction approaches. Harm reduction does not describe a single initiative, but rather includes a range of policies and activities, all based on recognizing a person’s humanity with the goal of reducing the possible harmful effects that can come with drug use. In addition to describing recent trends of drug overdose deaths in the U.S., the authors of this publication review what harm reduction is and isn’t; describe different harm reduction strategies; and include additional resources for further information.
